Why Every Lacrosse Player Should Experience a National Event

Hi, I’m Maddox Green class of 2028, a lacrosse player who’s been playing since I was five. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to play for some amazing teams like Utah Summit Lacrosse Club, West Coast Starz Gold, and Red Hots National. I’ve also been lucky enough to attend many national events, and I can confidently say they’ve been some of the most impactful experiences in my lacrosse journey. Here’s why I think every young player should try to experience a national event.

1. Elite Competition

At national events, you get to compete against the best players from all over the country. For me, playing against different styles and strategies has been a game-changer. It pushes you to adapt and elevate your game in ways that local games can’t. The intensity and skill level prepare you for everything—whether it’s varsity, club, or even college lacrosse.

2. Exposure to College Coaches

If you’re dreaming of playing college lacrosse like I am, national events are a big deal. College coaches are everywhere, watching and evaluating players. I remember stepping onto the field knowing scouts were on the sidelines. It’s a little nerve-wracking, but it’s also your chance to show what you’ve got. A good performance can really put you on their radar.

3. Skill Development

Playing in national events has helped me grow as a player. The faster pace and higher level of competition make you think quicker, react smarter, and play harder. Whether it’s perfecting my one-on-one defense or stepping up as an LSM, these events have pushed me to improve every aspect of my game.

4. Networking Opportunities

One of the coolest parts of national events is meeting other players and coaches. I’ve made so many friends from different states and even earned invitations to other teams and showcases. Building those connections is huge, not just for lacrosse, but for life. It’s awesome knowing that the lacrosse community is like one big family.

5. Memorable Experiences

I’ll never forget the thrill of playing at these events. Traveling to new places, stepping onto the field with my teammates, and soaking in the high-energy atmosphere are memories I’ll always treasure. From gear swaps to team dinners, the fun goes beyond the games. These moments remind me why I love this sport so much.

6. Showcasing Your Passion

Attending a national event shows how serious you are about lacrosse. It’s a way to prove to yourself, your teammates, and your coaches that you’re dedicated to getting better. For me, it’s also about making my family proud and taking steps toward my dream of playing Division I lacrosse and eventually going pro in the PLL.

Conclusion

Every young lacrosse player has big dreams—whether it’s making your high school varsity team, getting a college offer, or playing professionally. National events give you the chance to chase those dreams while learning, growing, and having a blast. So grab your stick, hit the field, and go for it. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Eyes on D1, heart in every game.
